Act Green Vietnam is a charity in Vietnam. They help communities come together to clean parks, rivers, and beaches all around Vietnam. They started helping to clean the beaches on Phú Quốc Island in 2015. Now, every month, Act Green Vietnam plans to clean somewhere in Vietnam. They also plan cleanups in big cities all over Vietnam on Earth Day and on World Cleanup Day.

In 2016, Act Green Vietnam created the Think Green Program. They aim to teach children how to protect wildlife in Vietnam. The program has stickers, crafts, handbooks, and a mobile game, all for free, to make it fun. To help Act Green Vietnam, you can join one of their cleanups, donate money, or offer to help at their office in Ho Chi Minh City.

TEEN WORLD MAGAZINE

We asked two experts. Here's what they said:

Patrick K. Fletcher, futurologist

“Learning in 2050, say, will probably be very different to how it is now.

I don't think the education system we have today will still exist. In my opinion, education will focus on e-learning, and students will attend virtual classrooms. I think students will connect to the internet using artificial intelligence, so they won't need to remember facts anymore. Actual schools and classrooms will probably be very rare. I believe the few schools that still exist will be for children from rich families, and they will mainly have robot teachers. But children with special needs will still go to school with actual teachers because I don't think robots can take care of the children yet.”

Shara Nguyễn, Vice Principal, Everlake School

“We started testing a variety of e-learning technologies about a year ago to find out what really works. For example, we tried a variety of apps for giving and marking assignments. Our studies showed that both teachers and students found these very useful, and the cost was reasonable, so I think we're going to see a lot of schools doing this in future. We also had good success with interactive whiteboards, but right now they are too expensive, and most schools in our area can't afford more than one or two for the whole school. We're definitely not going to see them in all schools for a long time.”

Hanoi is the capital city of Vietnam. Over eight million people live in Hanoi and it is the second most populated city in the country. The weather is not as hot as in the south and the coolest time of year is from September to November. This is one of the best times to visit. Hanoi is one of the oldest cities in Vietnam and has a long and interesting history. You can see many beautiful traditional Vietnamese and French buildings around the capital. Hanoi also has the most universities in Vietnam and you will find students from all around the country studying there. Although some restaurants are expensive in Hanoi, you can eat great food for a good price. You should definitely visit Hanoi when you come to Vietnam.

The Best Job In The World

What is a good job? Is it a job with a good salary? Not always. For some people, their salary is good, but their job is boring. And for other people, their salary isn’t good, but the job is easy. And some people are happy because their jobs are interesting. Let’s meet some people with great jobs.

Maritza Morales Casanova is Mexican and she’s from Merida. She’s a teacher, but there are no tables or chairs in her classroom because it’s a park. She says, “Empower children with information … and they will change the world.”

Jeff Kerby is a National Geographic photographer. Animals are difficult to photograph, so the job isn’t easy. Sometimes, the job is very difficult, but when you have a bad day, you look at the beautiful views and, Jeff says, “life isn’t so bad; in fact, it’s really interesting.”

Ross Donihue and Marty Schnure are mapmakers. For their job, they travel and they make digital maps of different parts of the world. One of their favorite places is Patagonia, in Argentina. Ross says, “I love Patagonia because no two days are the same. Every day is different.”

1. What would happen if we all stopped eating meat? (Điều gì sẽ xảy ra nếu tất cả chúng ta ngừng ăn thịt?)

2. Why are people eating less meat? (Tại sao mọi người ăn ít thịt?)

Saving the environment doesn't have to be expensive. You don't need to buy an electric car - just change your diet! Here are some of the biggest benefits of choosing a plant-based diet:

We would reduce greenhouse gases.

According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO), farmed livestock produces 14.5% of the world's greenhouse gases. If we all ate plant-based diets, we would reduce food-related greenhouse gases by 70% by 2050.*

We would save water.

Farming takes up about 70% of all freshwater use and nearly one-third of that is for livestock.** Do you know how much water is used to produce just one kilogram of beef? Over 15,000 liters! Beans, on the other hand, need about 4,000 liters per kilogram and vegetables need just over 300 liters on average. ***

We would save forests and wild animals.

In many parts of the world, forests are being cut down to make land for farming. Deforestation leads to many problems, but the most obvious one is that wild animals lose their homes. According to FAO, of all the land we use for farming, 77% is used for livestock, including the land we use to grow their food **. If we ate less meat and planted more food for humans, we would have more land for forests and wild animals.

Eating less meat is one of the best ways to reduce your impact on the planet. If you start eating more plant-based foods, you might even like vegetables more than meat!

(Người đàn ông đi bộ đến thành phố Hồ Chí Minh trong 35 ngày)

Minh Phan, November 1st

A 23-year-old Vietnamese man has raised nearly 135 million VND for charity after completing a 1,700 km walk from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. B.N.Q. started his journey on May 25th, 2020 and reached the capital in just 45 days. The young man thought it was one of the most amazing experiences of his life. “I wanted to do something meaningful for me, for my life,” he said. He started the expedition without any money in his pocket. “Making the journey without money was a really hard challenge,” he added. The young man said he often washed dishes or worked in restaurant kitchens or at people's houses in return for some food. At night, he often slept on park benches. Seven days into his travels, Q. decided his journey would be meaningful if he did something for the community. He posted the idea on a social media website to call for donations. By the time his charity walk finished, he had raised nearly 135 million VND. He decided to use the money to help build classrooms for poor children in Lai Châu, a province in the northwest of Vietnam. “I want to inspire young people to live a meaningful life by doing little but kind things,” he said.
