Water pollution is one of the most serious environmental problems. It occurs when water is contaminated by such substances as human and animal wastes, toxic industrial chemicals, agricultural residues, oil and heat. Most of our water bodies— rivers, lakes, seas, oceans, estuaries and underground water sources are gradually becoming polluted. In the course "Covered so far, you have seen how deforestation, urbanization, intensive agriculture and industrialization have caused pollution of water bodies. You are familiar with various aspects of air pollution, including harmful effects of acid rain. In this unit we will summaries various types of water pollution caused by different pollution sources, and also explain some important concepts such as point and non-point sources, biological oxygen demand (BOD), eutrophication, self-purification capacity of natural waters, infiltration of pollutants to groundwater, thermal pollution and pollution caused by accidents in oil tanker ships. In the next unit you will read about the degradation of land resources and terrestrial features of earth. Polluted water may look clean or dirty, but it invariably contains germs, chemicals or other materials that can cause inconvenience, illness or death.

Natural disasters are one of the biggest problems that people have to face to face nowadays. So does Vietnam, we are against natural disasters. The most common natural disasters in Vietnam are hurricanes. The hurricanes can cause damage to houses and peoples. A lot of people lost homes so they don’t have a place to live in. Not only that, they also suffer the pain of losing their relatives. According to statistics, the hurricanes in Vietnam made about 230 people die and a lot of people can’t be found. What is more dangerous than it causes the flood. Flooding is also a dangerous natural disaster because it can cause harm like a hurricane... Additionally, it can make the water line polluted and this is one of the causes that make people and animals sick. From these arguments, we can know about the harmfulness of hurricanes and floods so I will tell you some ways to prevent the hurricanes and floods. First, you should always update the news about the hurricanes. Second, you should prepare essential things such as water, food, clothes, medicines, first-aid-kits,...Third, we should reinforce our house and always be ready to evacuate. In conclusion, I can say that natural disasters are extremely dangerous, but we can prevent them by doing what I say.

Flood is considered as one of the most dangerous disasters in the world. There was a “historical flood” that happened in Hanoi in 2008. This must be a year that Hanoians can never forget because the rain was so heavy and lasted for many days consecutively that inundated many streets of Hanoi. The rain was considered heaviest in the last 100 years, which caused people to suffer from a lot of damage. According to statistics, many families even suffered from inundation as high level of water flew into their houses. Offices or schools had to make emergency announcement to let their employees and students be at home to avoid any potential accidents that may caused by the pouring rain. Life then had a lot of disturbance and people had to wait until it stopped raining. The rain triggered inconvenience for people in different fields as high death toll was recorded, traffic was in no order or people stood a high chance of dangerous epidemics. Luckily, after a few days, life began to come back to the way it was thanks to concerted effort of both local authority and many people of the city.

2.I agree with idea advanced technology will help students greatly in studying by themselves at home. Firstly, studying at home will help us save so much money. We don’t have to buy so many books and school supplies. It will help us save time and energy too because we don’t have to spend much time on travelling to school. Secondly, you can see there is a lot of traffic on the way especially in rush hours. There are always accidents on the road. Studying at home will help us avoid dangers on the way to school and make traffic less heavy. In addition, we can search for information easily and quickly with a tablet. It’s very convenient. It helps us to save time and we can finish our projects quicker and make them more informative. Light pollution has become a great concern in my neíghborhood. It occurs because of the overuse of lighting on the street and ỉn the households. A consequence of light pollution is energy consumption that can cause further problems to the environment. It also results ỉn significant health problems such as headache and sleeping disorder. The overuse of light may even lead to accident because the glare from outdoor lighting decreases our vision. To solve this problem, I think the govemment should consider more carefully where lights are placed. Moreover, people should use more efiicient and energy-saving bulbs in their house. Finally it is important to educate people to use light modemtely. If all the residents share the same responsibility, then the issue may be solved soon.

Like a paradise, my room is the only place where I feel free, warm and comfotable for relaxing after a tiring day at school.
My room has simple design and everything looks neat and clear. It's a beautiful room because it is decorated by myself. I use bright color for the wall and blue ties to inspire an intimate feeling to the space. Besides, my room looks warm and airy with two huge windows on the two sides of the room , and some lamps on the walls . I like the computer in my room most because it helps me a lot for my study.
