The Elephant Race Festival is usually held in Don Village or in forests near the Sevepoi River. In preparation for the festive day, people take their elephants to places where they can eat their fill. Apart from grass their food also includes bananas, papayas, sugar canes, corns, sweet potatoes. The elephants are free from hard work to preserve their strength. The race track is on even ground, preferably wide enough for ten elephants to stand simultaneously in a line with a length of one to two kilometres. People from near and far in their best and colourful costumes flock to the festival With the signal of of tu va (horns made into musical instruments), the mahouts command their elephants to go to the race track, standing in a row at the starting point. The leading elephant stands in front, whirling his trunk and nodding his head in greeting the spectators. Atop each elephant there are two handlers in traditional costumes for generals. The tu va signals the start of the race and the elephants rush ahead, excited by the sound of the drums, gongs, and cheering from the spectators. Upon seeing the first elephant dashing to the destination, the spectators shout boisterously amidst the echoing sound of drums and gongs. At the end of the race, the winning elephants lift their trunks above their heads to wave to the viewers, walk deliberately flapping their ears gently, gazing through half-closed eyes to receive sugarcane from their viewers.

đây là bài sự thay đổi miền quê vui I live in a mountain village. My parents often tell me storries about their life in the past. It`s not much like village I can see nowadays. Some villages now live in brick houses instead of earthen ones. Our houses are better equippded with electric fans and TVs. Thanks to the TV, we now know more about life outside our village. We don`t use oil lamps any more. We have electric lights which are much brighter. More villagers are using motorcycles for transport instead of riding a horse or walking. We - village children no longer have to walk a long way and cross a stream to get to school, which is the dangerous in the rain season. Now there is a new school nearby. We also have more visitors from the city. They come to experience our way of life.

My favourite festival is Christmas. It celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. It is an important festival in theWest. I love this festival because it brings a long holiday to us to enjoy ourselves.Every year before Christmas, my family and I buy some presents for relatives and friends. We decorate our house with a lot of festive decorations. We put up a Christmas tree in the living room and we decorate the tree with little angels, many beautiful bells and some little Santa Clauses. We also place a big star on top of the tree.On Christmas Eve, my sister and I put stockings beside our beds, and my parents secretly put some gifts inside the stockings. I will also put gifts secretly under the pillows of my parents to surprise them.During Christmas time, we have Christmas parties. I have parties with my family, relatives and friends. We prepare a lot of food such as turkey, Christmas cake, chicken wings and sausages. At the parties, I give Christmas cards to everyone and we exchange gifts with each other. Together we sing Christmas carols. Christmas is fun. I love this festival very much.

The Mid- Autumn Festival
The festival was held on 15th of August in the school yard. The festival lasted 3 hours. There were many activities such as: singing and shouting, wearing masks, parading on the roads and banging the drums.
The children were interested in a special cake “Moon cakes”. Children went on playing traditional games until mid-night.
This festival is a very special occasion for Vietnamese people, especially for children to play and enjoy on a variety of activities . The festival was wonderful.
