My parents’ hometown is Long An, but I was born and raised up in Ho Chi Minh City. People usually call it Saigon, and it is the biggest city of Vietnam. It has a lot of fascinating buildings and constructions since it is a modern and developing city. What I love about Saigon is that all the new and old things are perfectly harmonized. Behind the skyscrapers are the small alleys which contain a slower lifestyle and traditional values. My friends and I have a lot of places to go in our free time such as Nguyen Hue walking street, Tao Dan Park, Dam Sen Water Park, Suoi Tien theme park, and many other places which tourists usually visit. Besides the view, it can be said that Saigon is one of the food heaven that people should not miss when they come to Vietnam. We can find almost all kind of Vietnamese cuisine here, and we can enjoy featuring foods on floating restaurants on Saigon River. I love Saigon a lot, because both the people and the city itself are nice to me and whoever wants to visit it.

Traditional festivals and celebrations always play a significant role in Vietnamese culture. Besides Tet festival, the biggest and the most important celebration for Vietnamese people, the Mid-Autumn Festival, or also known as the Moon Festival or the Children’s Festival, is also a special time in the year. It’s usually held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Vietnamese lunar calendar. This special celebration is mostly embraced by children as they will have an opportunity to dress in beautiful clothes with attractive and colorful lanterns of various sizes, shapes and designs in their hands, ready for a grand procession around their neighborhood. Traditionally, lanterns signify the wish for the light and warmth. The adults also feel extremely happy as they see the radiant look on their little angels’ faces in the parades. However, the Mid-Autumn Festival is more an occasion for outdoor reunions among friends and relatives to eat mooncakes and watch the moon, a symbol of harmony and unity. This is also a special time for the traditional values and precious memories and life stories to be shared and handed/ passed down from generation to generation. Performances of dragon and lion dances are also a familiar sight on the streets when the moon is full. I really enjoy this traditional festival as this is the chance for me as well as other adults to relive our treasured childhood and a great occasion to strengthen our family ties and help the younger people to better cherish the important cultural values.

Da Lat city is located in the center of the southern highlands, 300 km far from the north of Ho Chi Minh City. In this beautiful city, the weather changes constantly, the noon is quite warm and cool while in the evening it is greatly cold. In general, the climate is relatively mild and suitable for avaiable flora and fauna to grow. This is also the reason that in Da Lat there are many kinds of beautiful and precious flower. When we come here , it is that we go to the forest with all kinds of flowers such as hydrangea flowers, mi mo da flowers, Mexican sunflowers, ... In addition, in Da Lat there are many interesting places such as Me Linh coffee garden, Than Tho lake, Camly waterfall, Da Lat station, ... But I think Ho Chi Minh City is more beautiful and more expensive than Da Lat City. Because it's the largest city in Vietnam with an extremely huge amount of residents, so almost every street and corner in the center of the city is always bustling. Saigon is famous for its skyscrapers and crowded malls. People love to do shopping, so every weekend the shopping malls are always full of shoppers. The life-style here is very fast and hurried, but people try to spend their free time in the evenings hanging around the streets. Saigon at night is very beautiful, people love to gather in the coffee shops or sit in river banks that go along the streets. My friends and I usually hang out in the evening, and we would to find as many different places to eat as possible. Along with the beauty, Saigon is also famous for delicious fool, and it is felt that the street food is usually better than one in big restaurants. There are so many things left to say about this lovely city, and we can only see the rest of it by exploring it ourselves.
