Poverty is no shame

My parents died in a traffic accident when I was ten years old, so I grew up with my grandmother who was too old and weak to work. I had to leave school and did odd jobs to earn a living: selling lottery kets, washing dishes and doing babysitting. When I was 15, my grandma encouraged me to attend evening classes, so I could improve my literacy and job prospects.

After lots of hardship and effort, I completed secondary education and passed a challenging exam to enter Medical University, which is the dream of many students. However, I could not pay the tuition fees and had to reject the offer. The door to a new life was closed before me. I was completely disappointed and saw only gloomy days ahead. Then something incredible happened: I was awarded a scholarship from The Thanh Nien for college students from poor families. This was really a turning point in my life because I could start my university studies and hope for a better future.

Six years of hard work at the university and of trying to live on a very tight budget came to an end at last. Now I am working as a doctor at a hospital, but I will never forget those difficult days. I am planning to set up and run a charitable organisation to help poor students, as a way to acknowledge other people for supporting me.

I've told my own story hoping to encourage other people me to overcome hard times. Don't let poverty defeat you and destroy your hopes for a better future. This is my motto.

My favourite leisure activity is reading. I like reading because it is a hobby that is useful and interesting: it's useful because you can find a lot of knowledge of all areas that you need; it's interesting because the books can give you the joy and help you relax after a day of toil, etc... Especially, when you join in the forum, you can meet a lot of people who have interests similar to yours, comment on the books or novels that interest you.
I love books and also natural as reading books. When I was ten , I was awarded "The Scarlet Sails" of Alexandre Green by my grandfather. It is the first book that I have been. I read it many times. Up to now, I still love it and occasionally read it again. My love for books begun.
I usually spend almost of free time choosing book with my friends, participate in dicussion on the forum and reading . Every weekend and all holidays when I have no work to do, I often read books and ruminate on it. I also help some friends select the genres of books that they like.
I always hope that I will have my own library in my future. I love books very much and perhaps, I couldn't live without them.

Furthermore, I enjoy the feeling of the badminton with best effort to beat my opponents in each match. Besides that, I have a chance to make friends with the others when I play badminton. I often play it with various kinds of people. We can also improve our social skills through discussion and pratice. We can talk about many interesting things when we have a break, too. Finally, playing badminton is not as intense as other sports such as football or volleyball. It lessens the possibility of being hurt. To sum up, playing badminton has a lots of benefits. We are not only physical but mental as well and this is a reason I like playing badminton best.
