I live in a big city, and my house is not very big since there are only rich people who can afford to live in a spacious house. Every room in my house is just enough for our activities, so we do not have much space for the living room. However, we try our best to decorate it because it is where the whole family gathers after a long day staying outside. We lay down a thick rug on the floor, it both helps to decorate and keep the floor safe from the scratches. To save some space, we put the TV and the loud speakers on the wall. The Play Station, DVD player and other electronic devices are put in a small cabinet in the corner of the room, and we only take them out whenever we want to play something. In the middle of the room is a glass table, we put on the surface a bottle of fresh water and some cups so everyone can have a quick drink before leaving or after coming back to the house. Behind the table is a big white couch, and it can be considered as the biggest thing in the living room. My mother loves the pastel tone, so the walls are painted in cream color; and they all go very well with the couch. We do not have any window there, so we install an air conditioner to keep the atmosphere cool. We hang some pictures of landscape as well as painting on the walls to make the room livelier. There are also a pot of a small plant in the corner of the room, so we can get some fresh air from it. Every night, we would gather to watch TV or sing karaoke, and it is my favorite time of the day. Although the living room is no too big, our family will always have good times there together.

I live in a pretty big house in the countryside since we also live with our grandparents, and the biggest as well as the most beautiful room in our house is the living room. We have a tradition to visit others house in our free times, so the living is specialized to welcome our guests. We do not put the TV, loud speakers or the DVD player there, because that is the space for us to talk to each other. At the end of the room, we put a big altar which is used to worship our ancestors. My mother takes a very good care of it since she changes the water and incenses every day. My father installs some lights to make it brighter and warmer. In the middle of the room is a couch which made from wood. It is beautifully carved into a dragon which the body is the back, the head is the place to rest our heads, and the claws are the four legs of the couch. The table surface is decorated with conch, and it makes the complete look to not look too heavy. On the table are a big flower vase and a set of tea pot and cups, which is used to serve the best tea to our guests. There is a big window behind the couch, and it gives the room plenty sources of light. The curtains are in light green color, and go very well with the dark green paint of the walls. On the walls are some of our family pictures as well as some pieces of my grandfather’s calligraphy. He has the ability to write Chinese and Vietnamese words in a very beautiful way, so we frame some of his works and put them on the walls. It can be said that the living room represent the whole family, so we always try to take a very good care of it.

Tôi sống trong một căn nhà lớn ở vùng nông thôn bởi vì chúng tôi sống cùng với ông bà nội, và căn phòng lớn nhất cũng như rộng nhất trong nhà tôi chính là phòng khách. Chúng tôi có truyền thống đi thăm nhà người khác vào thời gian rảnh, vì thế nên phòng khách được đặc biệt dành cho việc tiếp khách. Chúng tôi không đặt TV, loa hay đầu đĩa ở đó bởi vì đó là nơi để chúng tôi nói chuyện với nhau. Ở cuối căn phòng, chúng tôi đặt một chiếc bàn thờ lớn để thờ cúng tổ tiên của mình. Mẹ tôi chăm sóc bàn thờ rất kĩ vì mẹ thay nước và thắp hương mỗi ngày. Bố của tôi lắp đặt một vài ngọn đền ở đó để khiến bàn thờ trong sáng và ấm áp hơn. Ở ngay giữa căn phòng là một bộ ghế sô pha làm bằng gỗ. Nó được điêu khắc rất xinh đẹp hình một con rồng với thân hình làm lưng dựa, cái đầu là nơi để chúng ta dựa đầu vào, và bộ móng vuốt chính là bốn chân ghế. Mặt bàn được trang trí với ốc xà cừ, mà nó giúp cho tổng thể bộ ghế nhìn không quá nặng nề. Trên bàn là một bình hoa lớn và một bộ ấm tách trà dùng để phục vụ loại trà ngon nhất cho các vị khách. Có một cửa sổ lớn phía sau bộ ghế, và nó cung cấp cho căn phòng nguồn ánh sáng dồi dào. Rèm cửa có màu xanh lá nhạt, và nó đi kèm hoàn hảo với màu sơn xanh đậm của bức tường. Trên tường là một vài bức hình của gia đình tôi cũng như những tác phẩm thư pháp của ông nội. Ông có khả năng viết tiếng Trung Quốc và tiếng Việt rất đẹp, vậy nên chúng tôi đóng khung một vài bức và treo lên tường. Có thể nói rằng phòng khách chính là nơi đại diện cho cả gia đình, vì thế nên chúng tôi luôn cố gắng hết sức để chăm sóc tốt cho nó.
