Lunar New Year, or Tet, is considered the most important festival and holiday in Vietnam. All schools, companies, factories are temporarily closed. It is the occasion for family unions and gatherings when people return to their families. To prepare for this special day, most Vietnamese people prepare by cleaning and decorating their houses as well as cooking delicious foods. There are a lot of special Vietnamese customs during this time that you could learn. For example, the importance of the first person visiting the house on the new year, wishing greetings of New Year, ancestral worship, and giving lucky money to elderly people and children (aka “Li Xi” in Vietnamese language). During Tet, Vietnamese people will visit their relatives, go to pagodas and temples to pray for a better upcoming year.

One of my favourite festival it is Tet.This is an interesting holiday.It is held for us to worship our ancestors.Tet is held on the 1st to the 10th day of the 1st lunar month.Before Tet,we will have the preparing.It would take a week or two.The house will be repainted and will be decorated by decorations,kumpuat trees,apricot or peach blossoms.Then on the 29th of the 12th lunar month,we will watch Tao Quan on VTV Go.And when the time come,we 'll do the count down from 10 to 1 as the clock finally stroke 12.The sky will be shine beautyfully by the firework display.There are alot of great activities and I can't tell them all.By the way,Tet is coming soon.HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Last summer, my family and I had a trip to Dalat, which was dubbed as the land of fog. We came to Da Lat by bus because we wanted to visit the scenery along the way. Dalat appeared as a city in the clouds, and we spent all our time here to visit famous places. We visited Bao Dai Palace - the residence of the last king of the Nguyen Dynasty with his family. The whole architecture was is European style, and there were a lot of beautiful flowers which were planted around the Palace. The ground floor was the place for meetings, banquets, greeting foreign guests and government officials. Bao Dai's office, library, games room were also located there. In the office there was a huge portrait of King Bao Dai and Prince Bao Long - who was chosen as the successor of the throne. The entire second floor was the resting place of the royal family, including bedrooms of the king, queen, and their children. There was also a place for the king and queen to watch the moon called the Moon Tower. The next place that we visited was Mount Langbiang, where there was a legend about a love story between a girl called Biang and her lover Lang. Their love was forbidden by their families, so they chose to die in order to stay together forever. Next, we were brought to the top of the Radar hill by a Jeep; from the top of the hill we can see Dalat from above through a dim layer of fog. In the distance were the Golden and Silver streams, and they were like two strips of silk that ran across the forest. After 3 days of exploring Dalat, we finally had to go back home. The clouds and fog in the city still lingered in my mind, and I could not wait for my next visit to Da Lat.

The Vietnamese people celebrate the New Year ( Tet) on the first three days of January according to the Lunar calendar. To prepare for Tet,these days,they often paint their houses. They buy a lot of fresh fruit,flowers and make many delicious dishes. They make sticky rice cakes because they are their traditional cakes. People who work a long-distance away try to get home on these days. On the first day of Tet,people often offer these good fruit and food to their ancestors and after that, the whole families enjoy the food. They also visit pagodas,temples,their relatives and friends.Children are very happy to get lucky money from the adults.There are a lot of traditional games and contests at Tet such as rice-cooking, fire-making, water-fetching, buffalo-fighting, ect.They are really interesting. In the modern life, there is an increase in the people leave the countryside and migrate to the city. The objective reason is that in the city, it brings them comfortable life and favorite job. Subjective causes are due to the following disadvantages rural areas bring about push residents away. To begin with, there is no denial that rural infrastructure is not modern and advanced. Roads are quite narrow and degraded. Schools, hospitals are not cared much and remodeled. Especially the quality teachers and doctors here are just little so the inhabitants have less opportunity to develop in all way than in the urban area. Last but not least, the biggest disadvantage in rural areas is that job opportunities are so race. The main job is craft, farming, which bring a relatively small income. With that salary, we can only live through the day, not afford for services, shopping, entertainment… In conclusion, besides the positive aspects, life in the countryside is very much. disadvantage. We all need to consider carefully before choosing where to live.

Today, in Vietnam often encountered many natural disasters such as floods, droughts, hail, tropical storms and other matural disasters. These are the most frightening things people are concerned about. Tropical storms often occur and cause most harm. It usually occurs in the rainy season and occurs most often in central Vietnam and coastal areas. It causes a lot of damage to people and property. First, killing people, livestock and poultry by the flood. Second, crop loss due to flooding. Human become homeless and lose all their possessions. When storms occurs, people must find safe shelters not to go out. After that, we have to overcome what huricanes destroy.
In Vietnam, a tropical country which is famous for its beautiful sea and landscape has also known for a natural disaster - flood. This disaster can be known for raining heavily for many days, which is the reason causes a "strong river" that takes everything in their way likes houses, cars, trees and even human.
Flood often happens from November to December in winter, it clearly appears in the south and south central coast. This disaster seems familiar to us but it's danger is more terrify than we thought. A strong flood can destroy over 97000 houses, 17 300 ha of winter-spring rice crops and over 200,000 heads of cattle and poultry. In addiction, there has proved that there was a flood that caused the missing of 25 people in 2016, and 9 people was believed to be dead.
What is the solution for this? If we want to help the victims of the disaster, we can evacuated people from dangerous areas, local military and local authorities provided flood for the victims. Also we need to prepare rescue workers to ready for the next flood.
