There are many ways to exercise. Some require lots of equipment. Others require lots of people. Running requires neither of those. It is a great way to exercise with many benefits. Let's look at some benefits you can get in running just five minutes daily!
Running, like all exercise, increases blood flow. When your blood is moving, your brain works better! Running also helps your mood. Feeling cranky? Try running! Burning all that energy might help you sleep better, too, and better sleep means better health any day of the week.
Running does some other stuff you might not feel right away, too. It's stuff that helps your body and is very important, even if you don't notice it. Running is suitable for your blood pressure. That is more important for adults than children but starting good exercise habits when you are young can help you be a healthy adult. Similarly, people who run have healthier hearts. That means fewer heart attacks and heart diseases. Running also helps you live an average of three years longer! When your body is healthy, it can fight diseases and prevent illnesses from even starting.
So, lace up your shoes and go for a nice run. Run with your dog, your friends, or your family. Run on a track, on the sidewalks, or trails. You can catch a lot of scenery, get some fresh air, and get vitamin D from the sun. Just make sure you stretch before you run and cool down afterward.
